 The Stations

The stations are the first step in your trip and reveal the global architectural style of the city and the region. In train stations you can find a lot of services like kiosks, newspapers, restrooms, restaurants…

The website Stations in Motion will show you the exact plan of every French station

Please note that in some cities you have several train stations. The best example is Paris where there are the 6 following stations:

  • Gare du Nord (all destinations to the North of France)
  • Gare de l’Est (all destinations to the East of France)
  • Gare de Lyon (all destinations to the South of France)
  • Gare Montparnasse (all destinations to the West of France)
  • Gare d’Austerlitz (all destinations to the Center of France)
  • Gare Saint Lazare (all destinations to Normandy and Paris suburb)

Beware that in Paris train stations are far from each other and you will have to take the subway (the approximate time between two train stations is 30-45 minutes).

Please find more information on the French subway website: RATP
