The famous TGV (High Speed Train)

Since it was launched in 1981 TGV is the fastest High Speed Train in Europe. TGV carries over 100 Million travellers a year.

Commercial Speed :

from 270 to 320 km/h depending on route and type of TGV.

Main Destinations :

Over 200 destinations available in France such as: Lyon / Bordeaux/ Marseille/ Lille / Strasbourg/Rennes/ Avignon / Aix en Provence/Nantes/Reims.

Train Types :

Christian Lacroix has designed the East European TGV on the Paris /Strasbourg and Germany route.
TGV “ duplex” is a double decker high Speed train with 1 buffet bar coach , 3 First Class coaches and 4 Second class coaches
TGV “classic” with 1 buffet bar coach , 3 First Class coaches and 4 Second Class coaches
TGV “Atlantique”, same as above plus 2 extras coaches.

On Board Services :

Each TGV train offers the following services:
- Buffet bar with a selection of hot and cold drinks, sandwiches & snacks as well as newspapers.
- Spacious luggage racks
- Baby changing facilties in the double decker TGV in certain trains
- Bicycle storage space for 2nd class passenger only

1st class

Very confortable reclining seats fitted with plugs for mobile phone and laptop computers

Quiet coaches located in coaches 2 & 12, where all mobile phone have to be switched off.

2nd class

Family area available with 4 seats facing.

 

Using TGV with your France Rail Pass :

In addition to the France Rail Pass, a compulsory reservation is required We suggest that you book as much in advance a possible to make sure you get the best seats and flexible conditions. You can either book through your travel agent whom you bought your pass from or alternatively book from any SNCF ticket office or SNCF point of sale.

Exchange & Refunds

Exchanges are permitted and unlimited before departure, and not allowed after departure. This ticket type is refundable 720 before departure, but not refundable after.
